2.1.1.7. Principle of operation of the balancing block

Fig. 2.12. Principle of operation of the balancing block: 1–adjusting laying; 2–crankshaft; 3–forward part of the engine; 4–case of the balancing block; 5–counterbalances; 6–balancing shaft No. 2; 7–leading gear wheel; 8–a balancing shaft No. 1 with a conducted gear wheel

Structurally balancing block is established under a cranked shaft, has two balancing shaft and the case bed in which they are located. By means of balancing shaft and adjusting laying gap adjustment in gearing with cranked shaft is carried out. Balancing shaft (No. 1 and No. 2) are put in action by a leading gear wheel of a cranked shaft. The rotary motion is transferred from a leading gear wheel which is located between radical necks of the third and fourth cylinders, is direct to a balancing shaft No. 1 with a conducted gear wheel. The balancing block transfers rotation to a balancing shaft No. 2. The transfer relation of gear wheels of balancing shaft was chosen so that the gear wheel rotated twice quicker than a cranked shaft. Speed of rotation of a balancing shaft counterbalances force of inertia of rotation (secondary inertial force of rotation) cranked shaft. The balancing block does not understand and (fig. 2.12) is not under repair.

NOTE
For gap adjustment between the balancing block and the crankshaft replace adjusting laying. There are 40 types of laying of various thickness. To define a type of laying, find marking (2 figures) on laying (fig. 2.13).
